At DB Cargo UK, we are recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Wagon maintenance shop at Stoke. As a Mechanical Fitter within our Wagon Team you will be responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and refurbishment of rolling stock in accordance with the relevant regime and specification.

Responsibilities:

  • Fault finding, rectification work, damage repairs, modification and work arising.
  • Ensure that stock levels are kept to the required standard and stock is stored correctly.
  • Order / reorder stock as required.
  • Carry out damage reports / overload inspections on behalf of the customer and provide all documentation including photographs when required.
  • Submit quotes and final costs for 3rd party work.
  • Complete all relevant documentation relating to all work carried out on any rolling stock vehicle including completing and sending the Axiom proforma work order form V2 to the Field Maintenance Assistant.
  • Correctly file / store all rolling stock documentation.
  • Communicate stoppages and up to date on the progress of rolling stock to the Field Maintenance Coordinator via telephone.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical mindset with experience using air and hand tools.
  • Experience in fabrication, grinding, brake testing is also an advantage.
  • Qualifications within an engineering discipline would be advantageous.
  • Rail industry experience would also be an advantage.
  • Pro-active approach to working with good organisation skills.
