We are looking to hire an ambitious and up-and-coming Finance professional into a role with our client who is a commodities trading business. The successful candidate will initially work hand-in-glove with the CFO, CTO and Head of Middle Office on an initial Electronic Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems implementation. However, this is at heart a Finance role and will work closely with the CFO and Head of MO on a number of activities once the systems implementation is complete.
Initially, the person will work across three workstreams, with the first two as the primary focus:
- Legal entity setup, licensing and trading infrastructure β entities, licences for trading physicals and power, nomination software, and the operational scaffolding a new trading business needs to go live.
- ETRM implementation β continuing the build alongside the CTO, with a heavy emphasis on testing, validating system outputs, and ensuring PnL attribution, valuations and risk metrics behave as expected.
As the role matures, it will then also begin to pick up elements of BAU support into post-trade once the trading arm is operational.
We are looking for a highly ambitious and driven individual who would be open to moving into a smaller organisation where their role can have real impact and they can grow with the business. Ideally that person would have:
- Working knowledge of daily and monthly PnL, valuations and/or risk metrics within an investment bank or commodities trading business β enough to interrogate system outputs.
- Product control, market risk, finance change, or quant-adjacent background rather than pure trade support, ops or middle office processing is preferred.
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) a plus.
- Technical ability to work with traders and to understand concepts around valuation and product control.
- Ability to own project deliverables.
- Adaptability and resilience.
This could also appeal to an accountant in practice who has the technical nous to pick things up quickly and is highly motivated to move into industry, with proximity to trading, risk management, valuations and finance.
