About the role
Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac, this one-of-a-kind service is home to five men and one woman with physical disabilities. Each person lives independently in their own self-contained ground floor flat, with the added comfort of a close-knit, supportive community and a welcoming on-site office.
You will be working alongside these individuals to promote their day-to-day independence, help build their skills, and assist with everyday activities, all while offering emotional support. Whether it’s heading to the gym, catching a rugby game or going shopping, no two days are quite the same! The team here lives by the Active Support “do with, not do for” approach, which empowers the people we support to live life on their own terms. The impact of this approach has been incredibly positive, and as part of the team, you'll have the rewarding experience of seeing the difference you make every single day.
You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:
- Daily Living Support: Assist with personal care, medication administration, cooking, household tasks, and cleaning.
- Community & Social Engagement: Support individuals in attending appointments, accessing local groups, participating in hobbies like walking/hiking, and engaging in meaningful activities that promote independence and life skills.
- Companionship & Wellbeing: Build positive relationships by talking about their interests, providing emotional support, and encouraging fun, fulfilling experiences.
- Skill Development: Help individuals manage finances, improve household skills, and grow in confidence.
- Teamwork & Communication: Work collaboratively, contribute ideas, and maintain high standards of communication and documentation.
- Adaptability: Support individuals based on their unique needs, including occasional lone working and bringing fresh perspectives to improve the service.
Skills and Experience Needed
A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.

Pay and Pensions
£25,877 (£13.45 per hour) Sleep-in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift - approx. 1 per week. Enhanced DBS which we will pay for. Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed. Pension Choices: Defined Contribution (DC) Scheme with matched contributions up to 10%. Or, Defined Benefit (DB) 1/80th of final salary for every year of service. 3 x Life Cover linked to pension membership. Saving scheme with competitive interest rate. Give As You Earn scheme for tax efficient charity donations. From 1st April 2026 the option to be either weekly or monthly paid.
Time off and Flexibility
26 days holiday, pro rata entitlement plus Bank holidays. Rising to 27 days after 1 years service or cash equivalent of 1 days’ annual leave. Maternity & Adoption Leave: 20 weeks. Paternity Leave: 3 weeks.

Sick Pay, rising with length of service up to 6 months full pay after 4 years. Eyecare: Up to £100 reimbursement towards eye tests and glasses. Free counselling, coaching, wellbeing team, and OH service to all colleagues. Annual Health Check. Health Cash Plan.

Mileage paid at 45p plus 5P per passenger per mile. Cycle to Work Scheme.
