About the role
The role is primarily lone working, requiring someone who is confident working independently, using their initiative, and managing their own workload. You will, however, receive regular on site support and visits from the Neighbourhood Housing Managers and our Regeneration team.
You will be based on site for 37 hours per week, working 8:00am to 4:30pm, and will spend the majority of your time out in the communal areas and around the building rather than in an office or gardens. The position involves regular interaction with residents, contractors, and visitors, as well as encouraging resident involvement in community activity, including supporting the upkeep of and participation in shared green spaces, gardens, and growing areas.
About The BIOME building
The biophilic Living Building on Oxford Street in Swansea stands as a powerful example of how architecture can reconnect people with nature in the heart of a city. It’s unique design meets the core aims of the Future Generations Bill. The design breathes life into its surroundings, weaves natural light, greenery, and sustainable materials into every corner, creating a space that feels alive and uplifting. More than just a building, it inspires a future where urban living supports both people and the planet—reminding us that even in busy streets, nature can flourish and nurture our wellbeing.
The building will be a buzz of activity from the retail and commercial spaces, to the 4-story glass house, with views across Swansea Bay. This role will be a pivotal part of the wider team to ensure Codi customers feel at home and engaged in the research and community activity surrounding the building.
Skills and Experience Needed
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in their surroundings, and is confident working independently. You will have experience providing customer service or working with the public and feel comfortable supporting residents with day to day queries. The role requires good organisation and communication skills, the ability to manage a varied workload, and a calm, professional approach when dealing with challenging situations. You should be practical and proactive, with an interest in maintaining buildings, shared spaces, and green areas such as gardens or planting spaces. Basic IT skills, an understanding of health and safety, and a willingness to learn are essential, along with a genuine desire to create safe, welcoming environments and support strong, connected communities.
