About the role You’ll be based in a 45-bed Extra Care service supporting people aged 55+ who live independently in self-contained flats, including individuals with varying needs such as dementia. As an Assistant Cook, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring residents enjoy nutritious, home-style meals tailored to their needs, while creating positive and meaningful mealtime experiences.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Preparing, cooking, reheating and serving nutritious and delicious meals, including special diets
- Supporting the full mealtime process: ordering, storage, preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety, and infection control
- Creating a friendly and engaging dining experience by interacting with residents
- Providing support at mealtimes with dignity and respect where required
Skills and Experience Needed Please make sure your application demonstrates:
- Experience working in a professional kitchen environment
- Level 2 Food Hygiene (desirable – full training provided)
- Good IT, literacy, and numeracy skills
- Strong teamwork and customer service skills
