About the Services -

Newport Housing First (1x 37 hours available) -

The team use internationally evidenced approach to supporting the most excluded, long-term, entrenched and cyclically homeless individuals and those living rough on the streets. It focuses on finding permanent housing as quickly as possible and then addressing the issues that have contributed to an individual’s homelessness.

Who we’re looking for – Experience in dealing with complex needs and an understanding or ability to work within Welsh Government’s Housing First Principles.

HS Newport Lighthouse Project (3x 37 hours available) –

The Manager & Floating Support Workers provide support for a variety of reasons, including general homelessness, downsizing or upsizing, moving from temporary accommodation into their own home, transitioning to adapted properties, or other housing-related needs. The service is person-centred, needs-led, and focused on empowering individuals. You will support people to address a range of issues depending on their housing situation.

Who we’re looking for – Providing resettlement support, understanding of appropriate benefits and Housing Support Grant requirements.

HS Newport Newid (1x 37 hours available) –

The Manager & Floating Support Workers provide a passion for supporting individuals experiencing challenging times. You will provide housing-related support to individuals aged 18 and over who are either struggling to maintain their tenancy, are at risk of homelessness, or are currently experiencing homelessness.

Who we’re looking for – Understanding of homelessness processes, ability to signpost and support with housing issues.

Skills and Experience Needed

For all roles, relevant work experience and knowledge of issues relating to vulnerable people is essential. With a good understanding of housing related support & welfare benefits. Alongside the following;

  • A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
  • An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives
  • A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player
  • Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations
  • Visit customers to conduct a welfare check, offer support, information and advice with open and honest conversations.
  • Work with external agencies and signpost the people we support to the appropriate services suited to their needs
  • Awareness of safe working practices, such as the Lone working & safeguarding policy.

Key Details –

Please note that these role does not involve any aspect of care or personal care.

All roles are permanent contracts.

The working pattern for these roles are predominantly Monday – Friday office hours, although flexibility is required for the service needs.

It is essential to hold a valid UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle.
