About the role
Are you passionate about supporting older people to live independently and thrive within their communities? We're looking for an Independent Living Scheme Manager to oversee Cwrt Gwalia in Bridgend, building strong partnerships with the local authority and care providers to ensure tenants can access the support and services they need. You'll play a key role in championing older people, managing housing services, leading a small team and creating welcoming, inclusive communities where residents feel supported, connected and empowered to live independently. If you're looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll oversee tenancy and void management, rents and service charges, health and safety compliance, and the day-to-day running of the schemes. You'll also lead and motivate a small team, build strong relationships with stakeholders and contractors, and act as a champion for older people within the local community. Based at Cwrt Gwalia, you'll take a hands-on approach to supporting residents, promoting wellbeing, and ensuring the service maintains its reputation. You'll also play an important role in developing partnerships, continuously improving services and helping to shape the future of independent living for our tenants.
Skills and Experience Needed
We're looking for someone with experience supporting older people within a housing, care or similar environment, who is passionate about helping people maintain their independence and wellbeing. You'll have a good understanding of housing management and welfare benefits, along with the confidence to work independently, make informed decisions and manage a varied workload effectively.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as you'll work closely with tenants, colleagues, contractors, local authority partners and other stakeholders. You'll be comfortable using IT systems, maintaining accurate records and handling sensitive information with discretion. We're also looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable and keen to contribute ideas that help improve services and outcomes for tenants.
A relevant GCSE-level qualification (or equivalent experience) is required, and a qualification in Health, Housing or Social Care would be advantageous.
