In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the production facility by effectively maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Requirements

  • Time-served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND)
  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance engineering role, ideally within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical maintenance techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience with PLCs, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and automated systems is advantageous
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to provide on-call cover as required
  • Experience in the animal feed, food, or process manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and equipment
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and carry out effective fault diagnosis and repair
  • Work with both mechanical and electrical systems (bias can be considered)
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery upgrades
  • Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide on-call support as part of a rota to respond to out-of-hours issues
