A leading name in critical power protection is looking for an experienced and technically minded Customer Service Engineer to join their field-based service team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in electrical or electronic engineering who is passionate about hands-on work, fault-finding, and delivering outstanding service.

This is not a 9 to 5 role; you'll need flexibility, a proactive attitude, and the willingness to travel across the UK (and occasionally Europe), including overnight stays and some night/weekend work.

The Rewards
  • High Base Salary + 15% shift allowance
  • Overtime paid at 1.25x after 10 hours per day, and for work done 22:00-06:00 or on rest days
  • On-call allowance of £45/day
  • Company van (available for personal use, fully expensed under HMRC rules)
  • 5 from 7 day working pattern (including alternate weekends)
  • 20 days annual leave + bank holidays + discretionary Christmas leave
  • All PPE, tools, and test equipment provided

Requirements
  • ONC, HNC, HND, or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (ideally with power electronics focus)
  • Strong understanding of rotating machines (synchronous/asynchronous motors), logic/regulator systems, rectifiers, and inverters
  • Confident communicator with excellent organisational skills
  • Computer literate (MS Office, directory navigation)
  • Practical technical skills and experience using tools and electrical test equipment (DVMs, clamp meters, insulation testers, oscilloscopes)
  • Must be a British-born citizen due to security clearance requirements
  • Clean, full UK driving licence
Responsibilities
  • Commission, service, maintain, repair, and occasionally modify a wide range of power protection systems
  • Work with rotary and static UPS systems, diesel-powered and kinetic energy storage systems, and 400Hz aircraft ground power equipment
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Maintain and manage company tools, vehicle, and documentation to high standards
  • Be on call as part of a rotating 24/7 engineer schedule (approximately every 7-10 weeks)
  • Communicate effectively with customers and head office to ensure excellent service delivery
  • Must be comfortable with nationwide travel and occasional European visits
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends and nights
