They are a close-knit, hands-on business where operators take genuine ownership of their work, deal directly with customers and overseas agents, and are trusted to make decisions. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Import Operations Coordinator to take ownership of their consolidated containers, playing a key role within the day-to-day import operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is already working for an NVOCC, or has previous experience within an NVOCC environment, and is looking for a role where they can take real responsibility and make an impact. Import Operations Coordinator - The Details £38,000-£40,000 depending on experience Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:30 20 days holiday plus UK bank holidays Full-time, permanent position Fully office-based Excellent transport links Opportunity to work within a specialist and growing NVOCC Hands-on role with genuine ownership and responsibility Import Operations Coordinator - Requirements Strong background in Sea Freight Import Operations Previous experience working for an NVOCC would be highly advantageous Experience with consol, groupage and LCL operations Solid understanding of the import process from arrival through to delivery Confident managing your own workload with minimal supervision Highly organised with excellent attention to detail Proactive approach to problem-solving - someone who sees an issue and takes ownership of resolving it Confident communicating with customers, overseas agents, suppliers and colleagues Excellent telephone manner and professional written communication skills Competent with Microsoft Office packages Comfortable working in a busy operational environment A friendly, professional and team-focused approach Import Operations Coordinator - Responsibilities Take day-to-day ownership of consolidated containers from arrival through to final delivery Coordinate the smooth movement of import consol shipments, working closely with the wider operations and back-office teams Rate containers on a weekly basis in line with agreed customer and overseas agent rates Oversee the back-office support function, ensuring weekly operational tasks are completed accurately and on time Review and investigate discrepancies, missing documentation and operational issues Manage problems including damaged or short-shipped cargo, delays and documentation discrepancies Proactively communicate with the relevant parties to ensure issues are resolved quickly Manage the general import inbox, ensuring all enquiries are dealt with promptly and professionally Release shipments and respond to queries from customers, overseas agents and third parties Liaise with customers and overseas partners by telephone and email Work closely with internal teams to ensure all import shipments are handled efficiently Support other areas of the business during quieter periods, including deliveries and customs clearance Arrange the booking of FCL containers for shunts with the local warehouse Maintain accurate operational records and ensure all relevant documentation is completed correctly Identify opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency Carry out any other duties reasonably required as part of the role About Us Detail2Recruitment acts as an employment agency in respect of this position.
