Senior Vehicle Shipping Operator - Import & Export - Felixstowe - Salary Negotiable   About the Company   Our client is an established international vehicle logistics business specialising in the import, export, shipping, and transportation of cars, motorcycles, and specialist vehicles across the UK, Europe, and international markets. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior Vehicle Shipping Operator to join their Felixstowe team.   This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in international vehicle shipping who enjoys working with customers, overseas agents, dealers, collectors, and transport partners while managing complex shipments from start to finish.   Senior Vehicle Shipping Operator - The Rewards Competitive salary Company pension 20 days holiday plus bank holidays Office-based role in Felixstowe Opportunity to work within a specialist international vehicle logistics environment Varied role working with private owners, dealers, collectors, car clubs, and overseas partners Opportunity to take ownership of high-value and complex vehicle shipments Senior Vehicle Shipping Operator - Requirements 2-3+ years' experience in international car shipping, vehicle logistics, or motor vehicle transport Experience handling vehicle imports and exports by sea, road, and air Good knowledge of containerised and Ro-Ro vehicle movements Strong understanding of customs procedures and import/export documentation Experience with ATA Carnets, Carnet de Passage, temporary imports, and NOVA declarations Knowledge of VAT and duty calculations Understanding of IVA/SVA requirements would be advantageous Dangerous Goods awareness Experience using freight management systems; Multi Freight experience would be advantageous Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to communicate at all levels Positive, proactive "go-getter" attitude with strong problem-solving skills Calm under pressure and able to manage challenging situations Commercially aware with good negotiation skills Senior Vehicle Shipping Operator - Responsibilities Manage vehicle imports and exports from start to finish across sea, road, and air transport Coordinate the movement of cars, motorcycles, and specialist vehicles throughout the UK, Europe, and international markets Manage key customer accounts, including private owners, collectors, dealers, and car clubs Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, carriers, vehicle packers, and transport providers Manage customs documentation, import/export declarations, VAT, duty, and tariff requirements Coordinate ATA Carnets, Carnet de Passage, temporary imports, and NOVA declarations Provide guidance on customs requirements, trade compliance, and international vehicle shipping regulations Prepare quotations, negotiate rates, and support commercial pricing decisions Proactively manage delays, customs issues, disputes, and other shipment challenges Ensure vehicles and documentation meet all relevant import and export requirements Maintain accurate operational and financial records within the freight management system Build strong relationships with customers, overseas partners, Border Force, and other relevant stakeholders Identify opportunities to improve processes, customer service, and operational performance Take ownership of high-value and complex shipments, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and to the highest standard About Us   Detail2Recruitment acts as an employment agency in respect of this position.
