Fundraising & Events Co Ordinator in Bolton

Destitute Animals Shelter has developed a Fundraising Strategy 2025-27 and is looking to diversify income streams to ensure that we are hitting our financial targets to cover the rising costs of the good work we do daily at our Shelter. The post of Fundraising & Events Co Ordinator is an exciting new position reporting to the Chair of the Fundraising & Promotion Committee and working closely with the Operations Manager. This is a great opportunity for someone who isn't afraid to develop and try out new and creative ideas to put us out into the community, but is also well experienced in raising funds and running events that make a real financial and social impact in our mission to Rescue, Love, Repeat.

Location: Destitute Animals Shelter, Northolt Drive, Bolton, BL3 6NJ (hybrid working is available)

Main Purpose of Post: To develop and deliver fundraising activities and community events that generate income, increase awareness, and strengthen support for the charity’s rescue and welfare work. The postholder will build positive relationships with supporters, local businesses, volunteers and community groups to help ensure the sustainability and growth of the charity. The role is ideal for an enthusiastic and organised individual who is passionate about animal welfare and community engagement.

Key Accountabilities:

• Support the delivery of the Destitute Animals Shelter (DAS) fundraising strategy and income targets.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with individual supporters, local businesses, community groups and donors.
• Research and identify new fundraising opportunities, grants, sponsorships and community partnerships.
• Organise and promote fundraising campaigns, appeals and supporter initiatives.
• Encourage regular giving, sponsorship and community-led fundraising activities.
• Maintain accurate records of donations, supporter information and fundraising activity.
• Ensure all fundraising activity complies with relevant legislation, GDPR and charity best practice.

Events Coordination:

• Plan, organise and deliver fundraising and awareness events throughout the year.
• Coordinate logistics for events including venues, volunteers, suppliers, sponsorship and promotional materials.
• Represent the charity at community events, talks, open days and networking opportunities.
• Support volunteers involved in fundraising and events activity.
• Evaluate the success of events and make recommendations for future improvements.

Community Engagement & Promotion:

• Help raise the profile of the charity within the Bolton area.
• Build relationships with local media, schools, businesses and community organisations.
• Work with colleagues and volunteers to create engaging fundraising and promotional content.
• Promote the charity’s mission, values and rescue work in a positive and professional manner.

Administration:

• Maintain fundraising databases, records and financial information accurately.
• Assist with the preparation and distribution of fundraising materials and communications.
• Monitor stock levels of fundraising merchandise and promotional items where applicable.
• Support reporting on fundraising income, expenditure and event outcomes.

General Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with staff, trustees and volunteers to support DAS’s overall objectives.
• Act as an ambassador for the charity at all times.
• Attend team meetings, Fundraising and Promotion Committee Meetings, training and relevant external events.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
• Comply with DAS’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety and data protection.
• Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Professional/qualifications, training & education:

• GCSE (Grade A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths.
• Relevant qualification or training in fundraising, marketing, events or business administration.
• Experience of organising events, fundraising activities or community engagement initiatives.
• Experience of building positive relationships with supporters, customers, volunteers or community groups.
• Experience of working towards targets and deadlines.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and email systems.
• Understanding the importance of excellent customer and supporter care.
• Experience managing social media or promotional campaigns.
• Experience working within the charity or animal welfare sector.
• Knowledge of fundraising regulations and good practice.
