We are looking for a caring and experienced Care Support Worker to provide high‑quality care to adults and children with learning disabilities and other complex needs across Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale.
Principal Duties
- Encourage the independence and social inclusion of service users by providing them with community support.
- Organise and assist with community outings and activities to give service users access to fun experiences away from home.
- Offer practical and emotional support to service users with learning difficulties and potentially problematic behaviours.
- Help with personal care activities such as dressing, bathing and continence management.
- Prepare and serve wholesome meals while offering assistance with feeding when required.
- Assist with mobility, ensuring clients are safe and confident when moving about.
- Help with errands, shopping and other housework.
- Provide support calls to ensure service users’ wellbeing and address any issues.
- Observe and record service users’ progress, revising care plans as needed.
- Engage in ongoing education to meet increasingly complex care demands and manage challenging behaviours.
- Encourage the development of constructive behaviours using proactive techniques.
- Assist service users with social engagement to build and maintain community relationships.
- Collaborate closely with family members and external professionals to ensure service users’ needs are met.
Requirements
- Minimum one year of care experience, especially with challenging behaviours and learning difficulties.
- Experience organising social or recreational events and providing community support.
- Preferably a Health and Social Care Level 2 or 3 qualification, or equivalent.
- Current driver’s licence and ability to rent a vehicle for travel.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Capacity to work weekends, evenings and days.
- Willingness to visit various community sites and service users’ residences.
