We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Children’s Community Home Care Assistant to join our Children’s Home Care Team. You will provide high‑quality, personalised care to children and young people with complex health needs, including those who are technology dependent, in their homes, schools and community settings across Somerset.
As part of a 365‑day, 24‑hour service, you will be required to travel to the child’s location, often covering journeys of over an hour (mileage allowance paid) and working flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, bank holidays and emergency cover.
You will receive extensive training tailored to each child’s needs and will work with experienced team members initially to build confidence and competence. You will deliver one‑to‑one care, supporting mobility, personal care, eating, and medication administration while encouraging independence.
Daily duties include recognising and responding to changes in a child’s condition, escalating concerns as necessary, maintaining accurate clinical records in line with Trust policy, and communicating clearly and professionally with families, carers and the interdisciplinary team.
Qualified and compassionate support for children whose care plans involve medical technology such as ventilators, feeding systems and suction devices is essential.
