Job Description

As a Support Worker you will be providing practical, emotional and person‑centred assistance to people living in their own homes in a supported living setting to increase their independence, build confidence, access the community, maintain their wellbeing and achieve their own goals. Ideal for a person that is kind, patient, polite and dedicated to creating a significant impact in the lives of people.

Responsibilities

  • Providing person centred support in line with individual service users care plan, risk assessment and support needs.
  • Supporting service users to develop skills in everyday living such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping, appointments, personal care where needed and keeping a safe home environment.
  • Helping service users to get out and about, involved in activities, connect with people and be independent.
  • Always advocating for dignity, choice, privacy, independence and inclusion.
  • Assist service users with medication according to business policy, training and expertise.
  • Recording daily notes, occurrences, observations and any changes in presentation in a timely and precise manner.
  • Following safeguarding measures and reporting any concerns straight away.
  • Positive working relationships with colleagues, families, professionals and larger management team.
  • Support positive behaviour approaches including PBS if appropriate.
  • Upholding Greenbanks Heritage policies, beliefs and standards while maintaining professional boundaries.

About You

We’re looking for a person who is:

  • Professional, prompt and dedicated to excellence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to study and finish appropriate training.
  • Ability to work alone and as a team player.
  • Calm and resilient in support of those with complicated needs.
  • Dedicated to dignity, protection and person‑centred care.

Experience of working in assisted living, mental health, learning disability, autism or social care is useful, but not usually needed. The correct attitude, morals and willingness to learn are just as vital.

Requirements

  • Experience in care or support work or a real interest in working in health and social care.
  • English and Maths GCSEs or equivalent at grades A*-C/9-4.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and make daily notes.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is an asset.
  • The ability to operate over a range of shift patterns including long days, waking nights and sleep‑ins is vital.
  • Must be willing to relocate for employment.
  • Right to work in the UK.
