Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Community Support Worker to provide empathetic, person‑centred care to persons with mental health, social or learning issues within a supportive, structured setting.

Job Details

  • Job Type: Full Time Regular
  • Location: Ripon
  • Hours: 18.75 hours per week
  • Salary: £25,760 – £27,476 per annum (rising after 2 years)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient‑focused care while ensuring safety, privacy and dignity of all patients.
  • Recognise signs of abuse or abuse risk, report concerns in line with Trust safeguarding policies, and perform delegated duties within competency while considering risk assessment.
  • Support patients in community settings, assist with assessment tools, maintain accurate records, and provide health education and guidance to patients and carers.
  • Demonstrate safe break‑away strategies when faced with violence or aggression, safely handle and move patients, and work closely with the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Diploma Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent
  • Care Certificate Level 2
  • Key Competencies – Literacy and Numeracy
  • Successful completion of Trust’s HCA Framework in full during the 6‑month probation period

Experience Required

  • Previous experience as a Band 2/3 Healthcare Assistant or equivalent in a care setting.

Knowledge and Skills – Essential

  • Person‑focused care
  • Understanding of legal frameworks including Mental Health legislation
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities
  • Time‑management and prioritisation skills

Knowledge and Skills – Preferred

  • Competency in phlebotomy
  • Competency with ECGs
