About YEMEN HEAVEN

YEMEN HEAVEN is an award winning independent restaurant based in the city centre of York. Known for friendly hospitality, attentive service and authentic Yemenite cuisine.

We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily Front of House operations, lead the crew throughout service, and ensure consistently high standards throughout the restaurant.

This is a real management role for someone with excellent restaurant experience, leadership abilities and a sincere interest to establish a long term career with YEMEN HEAVEN.

The Role

The Restaurant Manager will be responsible to:

• Supervising the daily operation of the Front of House of the restaurant
• being at the front of the queue & maintaining control in crowded times
• Pre-service briefings and staff section and assignment of responsibility
• Staff rotas, availability, punctuality and attendance management
• Recruitment, onboarding, training & development of the Front of House staff
• Performance monitoring and structured feedback for employees
• Ensuring staff are complying with the restaurant service standards and operating procedures
• Handling reservations, big bookings and visitor requests
• Dealing with visitor complaints professionally and resolving service issues
• Supervising opening, closing, cashing-up and EPOS procedures
• Ordering and tracking beverage stock from vendors
• Supporting the development of the wine, cocktail, coffee & tea programming
• Upholding high standards of appearance, cleanliness and organisation
• Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety and food safety protocols
• Reporting to the directors on operational matters, workforce requirements and performance
• Finding ways to increase service, efficiency and guest pleasure

The Restaurant Manager will be required to be a visible, hands‑on leader during service. That said, this isn’t really a waiter or regular Front of House role.

We are looking for

Applicants must possess:

• Previous experience as a Restaurant Manager, Assistant Restaurant Manager or experienced restaurant supervisor
• Solid experience in a busy table‑service restaurant
• Ability to lead, organise and encourage front of house team
• Very good reliability, timeliness and professional behaviour
• A heightened operational awareness and urgency
• Confidence managing many priorities during hectic services
• Experience of training and development of personnel
• Excellent guest service and complaint handling skills
• Good knowledge of food, beverages and restaurant service
• Confidence in EPOS, reservation and cash handling systems
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
• A real interest in developing with YEMEN HEAVEN in the long term

Skilled Worker Sponsorship Scheme

Applicants who are eligible for sponsorship:

• Granted approval as a Skilled Worker under the Immigration Rules in existence on 22 July 2025 and prior thereto
• Experience and ability to do this real Restaurant Manager work

Applicants who do not meet the transitional Skilled Worker standards must already have the right to work in the UK on an independent basis.

This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker sponsorship for a first time Skilled Worker candidate not meeting the transitional rules.
