About Us
We are a friendly, year-round preschool in Ashby that specialises in children and offers top-notch early childhood care and instruction. We are looking for a seasoned nursery cook to join our team and assist us in serving wholesome meals to kids ages 0–5.
Principal Duties
- Make sure the meals you prepare and cook for up to 40 kids each day are wholesome, well-balanced, and kid-friendly.
- With weekly FareShare food deliveries, use your imagination to modify meals according to the ingredients that are available.
- Plan menus in conjunction with the chef from our second nursery location.
- Uphold strict guidelines for kitchen safety, cleanliness, and food hygiene.
- Keep track of food temps, cleaning plans, and efficient stock management.
- Attend to allergies and nutritional needs.
- Encourage the nursery staff to encourage a healthy diet.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a comparable kitchen or cooking position (preferably in a childcare, educational, or care context).
- A current certificate of food hygiene (Level 2 or higher).
- Comfortable cooking for big crowds (up to 40 kids).
- Early childhood education on nutrition, allergies, and food safety.
- Imaginative and flexible, particularly when utilising a variety of ingredients.
- Outstanding attention to detail and organisational abilities.
Desirable
- Experience working in an early childhood or nursery environment.
- Knowledge of the Eat Better, Start Better recommendations.
Extra Hours Available
We might be able to provide additional hours working directly with the children in the nursery rooms if you would like to work more than 15 hours a week.
