Position Summary
MK Building & Renovation Ltd are looking for an experienced and competent Bricklayer to join our building and renovation team on a full‑time, fixed‑term basis.
The role is required to assist with our residential building, expansion, loft conversion and restoration projects.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for undertaking bricklaying, blockwork, masonry repairs and associated construction works to a high professional quality.
The Bricklayer will be directly accountable to the Director and will be supervised by the company on MK Construction & Renovation Ltd projects.
Responsibilities
- Bricklaying and blockwork and masonry work for the residential building, extension and refurbishment work.
- Construct, repair and maintain brick or block walls, partitions, foundations and other buildings.
- Measure, cut, shape and lay bricks, blocks and other construction materials as per the project specifications.
- Prepare materials and mix mortar in accordance with site specifications and safety norms.
- Read and interpret simple drawings, measurements, requirements and directions from the company.
- On renovation projects repair and restore existing brickwork and masonry as required.
- Assist in preparing working spaces and surfaces before to commencement of bricklaying or blockwork.
- Operate hand tools, power tools and appropriate construction equipment safely and effectively.
- Make sure that all work is done accurately, safely and to a high grade of workmanship.
- Always follow health and safety rules, site procedures, and corporate policies.
- Keep your work environment clean and tidy and utilise tools and supplies carefully.
- Work with other team members and sub‑contractors as required to execute tasks in the required time.
- Report progress, problems on site, material requirements and any safety issues direct to the Director.
Skills
- Bricklayer or equivalent masonry/construction expertise.
- Solid hands‑on experience of bricklaying, block work, mortar mixing and mason repairs.
- Knowledgeable in the safe use of hand tools, power tools and construction equipment.
- Can read from drawings, take measurements and follow site instructions.
- Good knowledge of health and safety rules on building sites.
- Detail‑oriented, with a strong dedication to deliver quality work.
- Ability to operate individually and in a team.
- Good time‑keeping.
- Reliable and willing to work on various home project sites.
- Physical fitness and endurance for manual building jobs.
