Responsibilities

As a prison officer you will:

  • Maintain safety, security, and order within the prison environment.
  • Assist in the rehabilitation and support of inmates through mentoring, counselling or educational activities.
  • Enforce prison rules, procedures, and national security regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections, monitor behaviour and respond to incidents.
  • Work in shift patterns including weekends, public holidays, evenings and nights.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Fulfil civil service nationality requirements.
  • Pass a medical and fitness evaluation, including vision and hearing standards.
  • Prior UK residence of at least three years for Category A prisons.
