Description of the job

We are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our wonderful team on a full-time, permanent basis, with flexible working hours and contractual hours, at our charming residential home in Thorrington, Colchester. We would love to speak with you if you have prior care experience or are just starting out in your career. We provide comprehensive training and a supportive atmosphere to help you advance in your career in care.

Responsibilities

  • Helping residents with personal care tasks like dressing, toileting, and bathing, and assisting with daily tasks.
  • Ensuring residents’ skin is checked frequently and notifying senior carers of any noteworthy changes or concerns.
  • Assisting with fluid intake and mealtimes; recording completed tasks in care plans (e.g., food and fluid charts, postural change charts, stool charts, and care notes).
  • Following a schedule that supports the home’s care requirements; working alternate weekends, evenings, bank holidays, and/or other shifts as decided by the Registered Care Manager.
  • Recognising and reporting indications of misconduct or abuse.
  • Participating in outings and social events with residents.
  • Participating in staff development and training programs as specified by the appraisal system.
  • Taking part in additional tasks assigned by the manager or deputy to help the home operate smoothly and ensure residents’ safety and wellbeing.

Pattern of shift

48+ hours a week, with alternate weekends off, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hours can be discussed according to availability. 12-hour shifts include 15 paid minutes, 30 unpaid minutes, and 15 paid minutes.
