The Position
At Qima Café, we are seeking a Head Barista to oversee our coffee program. A talented barista who is enthusiastic about quality, consistency, and the visitor experience is needed for this practical position. As the on-site coffee lead, you will work directly with our roasting and quality team to bring world-class coffee to life while encouraging, motivating, and supporting the barista team.
Principal Duties
- Oversee the barista crew during their shift, making sure each cup is excellent and consistent.
- Uphold and promote Qima Café’s coffee standards for trademark drinks, espresso, and filters.
- Baristas should be trained, coached, and mentored in order to encourage their growth.
- Conduct routine quality sessions, calibrations, and cuppings with the team.
- To guarantee optimal functioning, maintain and adjust the equipment.
- Work along with the rest of the team to improve the coffee selection and visitor experience.
- Assistance with ordering, stock control, and waste reduction.
What We’re Seeking
- Strong background working as a head barista or senior barista in a speciality coffee setting.
- Outstanding understanding of milk texturing, espresso, filtering, and brewing techniques.
- Enthusiasm for coffee’s origins, flavour, and friendliness.
- Self-assurance in inspiring and managing a group.
- Proactive, well-organised, and composed under duress.
