About Cela Remit

Cela Remit Limited is a UK fintech firm licensed by the Financial Conduct Authority as a Payment Services provider and registered with HMRC as a Money Services Business. We provide a secure international money transfer platform for our customers in the UK and abroad, specialising in rapid, safe and economical remittances to Africa.

The Position

We are seeking a competent Software Engineer to design, develop, test and manage the software applications that run our payments and remittance platform. You will work across the complete development lifecycle from requirements research and system design through to coding, testing, deployment and continuous maintenance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test and document high quality, secure code for our web and mobile payment apps and their associated back-end services.
  • Build and maintain APIs and integrations with payment networks, banking partners, KYC/AML screening providers and 3rd party services.
  • Analyse business and user needs and transform them into technical requirements and functional software.
  • Diagnose and repair software faults and production difficulties, ensuring high availability of the platform.
  • Run automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end) and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards.
  • Design and develop software that meets security and regulatory requirements for financial services including data security, PSD2/Payment Services Regulations and PCI DSS standards.
  • Work with product, compliance and operations teams in an agile development environment.
  • Write and maintain concise technical documentation and help improve our development procedures and tooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent RQF Level 6) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or comparable discipline OR equivalent professional experience in software development.
  • Commercial expertise designing, developing and supporting production software applications.
  • Deep understanding of RESTful API architecture, relational and NoSQL databases, and version control (Git).
  • Experience in building automated tests and working with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good understanding of secure coding practices and sensitive data management.
  • A good problem solver who has an eye for detail and can articulate technical concepts concisely.
  • Right to work in the UK, or ability to sponsor via the UK Skilled Worker route.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, remittances, banking or regulated environment.
  • Experience with mobile app development (Android/iOS) or cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and containerised deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with AML/KYC procedures, fraud prevention or transaction monitoring.
