  • Facilitating music therapy sessions, remembrance activities, arts & crafts, moderate exercise, gardening, quizzes, themed days and social gatherings.
  • Organising and taking residents out and about in our minibus to local places of interest.
  • Involving people with dementia in activities that appeal to the senses, remembrance work and person-centred methods.
  • Collaborating with our clinical partners to ensure the activities meet the requirements of residents with more complicated demands.
  • Building partnerships with families, volunteers, local schools, community groups and performers to add variety and community connection to the house.
  • Accurate records of activities delivered and resident involvement for compliance considerations.
  • Preparing a quarterly activities report for management and the board.
  • Supporting the care team with activity-based techniques during calmer times of the day.

About You – Basic

  • Energetic and creative – you are enthusiastic and initiative-taking in all you do.
  • Experience in organising and implementing events within care, community, education, arts or voluntary settings.

  • Knowledge of person-centred care and of adapting activities to meet individual needs and abilities.
  • Understanding of dementia and its impact on engagement, communication and daily life.
  • Warm, patient and capable of building true relationships with residents, family and staff.
  • Organised and able to plan ahead but flexible and react on the day.
  • Basic IT skills for record and communication purposes.
  • An enhanced DBS check (we will undertake this for you if you do not already have one).

About You – Nice To Have

  • Experience delivering activities specifically for persons living with dementia or complex needs.
  • NVQ or equivalent in Health and Social Care Level 2 or above.
  • NAPA or comparable activity coordination/well-being qualification.
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques.
  • Able to plan community outings and work with volunteers or entertainers.
  • Care home experience (preferred).

  • Flexible hours of 20-30 per week to suit you – possibility to increase if the house grows.
  • A team that’s like family in a home that truly cares about its residents and its staff.
