Overview of the Job
To join our team, we are looking for a dedicated and caring Disability Support Worker. In this position, you will help a young child with a variety of medical needs by offering vital support, fostering their independence and general well-being while helping them lead satisfying lives. You will work as part of a 2:1 staffing team and collaborate closely with the child in their home around the clock.
Duties
- Delivering personal care and support for everyday tasks including dressing, grooming, and bathing.
- Assisting with meal preparation and ensuring adequate nourishment.
- Helping to administer medications in accordance with prescribed protocols.
- Involving the child in meaningful activities to improve quality of life.
- Applying behaviour management techniques to support clients with challenging behaviours.
- Providing emotional support and companionship to enhance mental well-being.
- Carrying out light housekeeping to keep the area tidy and safe.
- Assisting with transfers and mobility, including heavy lifting if required.
- Maintaining thorough records of client progress and informing the appropriate staff of any issues.
Requirements
- Able to reside and work in the United Kingdom
- A comprehensive and current resume including all employment history
- References for all regulated activities and the last five years
- Kind, outgoing, and dedicated to helping those with special needs
- Experience is preferable but not required; training, induction, and shadowing are offered
- Enhanced DBS with a child’s barred list check on the update service or a new one
- Driver preferred due to location and limited public transport access
Types of Jobs: Permanent, Full-Time
Hourly wage: £13.80-£14.05
Hours anticipated: 40 per week
