Role Description

The Deputy Residential Manager is a contract, on-site role based in Tamworth, responsible for supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the children’s home. This role oversees daily operations, ensures a safe and nurturing environment, and helps implement trauma-informed care practices aligned with the home’s values and regulatory standards. The Deputy Residential Manager will supervise and support staff, contribute to rotas, oversee record-keeping, and participate in care planning and reviews for each child. The role involves liaising with external professionals, families, and local authorities, monitoring budgets and resources, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and relevant legislation. The Deputy Residential Manager will also help deliver staff training, promote professional development, and model high-quality, child-centered practice.

Qualifications

• Strong Communication skills, including clear written reporting, active listening, and constructive feedback.
• People Management experience, including team supervision, performance support, and staffing coordination.
• Knowledge of Residential Real Estate or residential settings, including premises management and safety standards.
• Budgeting skills, including monitoring expenses and contributing to resource planning.
• Training skills, including supporting staff induction, ongoing learning, and coaching in trauma-informed practice.
• Experience in children’s residential care, social care, or a related setting, with a child-centered and trauma-informed approach.
• Understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment, and relevant regulations and standards for children’s homes.
• Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
• Relevant qualification in social care, childcare, or a related field (e.g., Level 3 or Level 4 in Children and Young People or equivalent) or willingness to work toward it.
