This is a hybrid role based in our Teddington office, you must live within a commutable distance.

With 40 years’ experience working at prestigious events, Sportsworld has earned an international reputation as one of the UK’s leading event, travel management and corporate hospitality providers. Sportsworld delivers a combination of official travel and event services for clients such as The FA (Qatar 2022, 2024 UEFA Euros) and Manchester City (ie. UEFA Champions League including 3,000 supporters to 2023 Final in Istanbul), as well as official domestic appointments such as The Championships, Wimbledon and Matchroom boxing.

The Finance Manager role will be responsible for preparing the financial and management accounts, providing financial analysis, and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical accounting skills, the ability to manage the profit & loss, cashflow and balance sheet including inter-company reconciliations, and a passion for maintaining accurate financial operations across a growing organisation.

No two days are the same in this exciting role, but on a typical day you can expect to:

  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial reports including management accounts.
  • Perform bookkeeping and general accounting duties.
  • Complete bank account reconciliations and manage inter-account transfers.
  • Input and manage supplier invoices.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable balances for the business.
  • Prepare supplier payments accurately and timely.
  • Maintain financial records in compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, and ensure financial integrity.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis and provide meaningful commentary for senior management.
  • Prepare KPIs and other financial metrics for performance monitoring.
  • Process VAT, CAA/ATOL and ABTA returns.
  • Collaborate with other departments and entities to ensure seamless financial operations.
  • Liaise with external auditors and assist in the preparation of group-level audit.
  • Support cash flow management and inter-company funding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support internal and external audits.
  • Own the year-end accounting processes and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Provide insights to improve business systems and processes.

To be successful within this role, our ideal candidate will:

  • Have ACCA, CIMA, AAT or a similar accounting qualification or studier.
  • Knowledge of tour operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ practical working experience within finance.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with a good understanding of VAT and tax compliance.
  • Strong skills in financial reporting, experience with Sage.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a solid understanding of cost control, cash flow management, and financial analysis.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
