We are now looking for a Finance Manager to join our Manchester based finance team with the key purpose of this role to drive the accurate and timely close of the monthly management accounts for Destination Sport Group. Looking to continually improve process, drive efficiencies and build working relationships with key stakeholders within and external to finance across our high growth organisation.
No two days are the same in this broad role, but on a typical day you will:
- Report into the Head of Finance, driving the continued success of Destination Sport Group.
- Be responsible for the production of the consolidated management accounts for the group with variance analysis to budget & forecast.
- Oversee the production of monthly management accounts for the Group divisions with variance analysis to budget and discussing the monthly numbers with the department heads.
- Manage the Management Accountant team to ensure month end is delivered in line with the required deadlines.
- Ensure intercompany accounting is complete and reconciled prior to group submissions.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations to a high standard.
- Work closely with the Head of Finance and parent company to ensure group consolidations are completed on a timely basis and provide supporting information as required.
- Be the main point of contact for stat and quarterly audits.
- Be the main point of contact for overseas outsourcers and auditors.
- Oversee the preparation of quarterly VAT returns.
- Prepare weekly management information for distribution to the operational teams.
- Help maintain and improve financial controls.
- Drive process improvements and bring new ideas to the finance team.
- Build strong working relationships with the wider finance team and the department heads.
- Ad-hoc project work as and when required.
To be successful within this role, our ideal candidate will:
- Be a fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
- Have previous management accounting experience, ideally in a fast-paced, multidivisional, operational environment.
- Have previous managerial experience of both qualified and part qualified accountants.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
- Be computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, and in particular Excel.
- Have experience in manipulating and managing large quantities of data using Excel.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills to stakeholders both internal & external to the business.
- Be confident in communicating complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of back-office systems.
- Be able to work within a team environment to achieve team/department objectives.
- Have the ability to think logically, consider all relevant aspects and carry out complex analysis on information.
