This is a hybrid role based in our Gloucester office, you must live within a commutable distance.
As part of Destination Sport (“DS”), Mike Burton creates and delivers major brand, customer and revenue focused ticketing and travel programmes around the globe, working in direct partnership with organisations that include England Rugby, Scottish Rugby, The R&A, EPCR and The British & Irish Lions. Our Tours Sales Coordinator will be working alongside the Rugby Football Union (England Rugby) developing key stakeholder relationships and generating new pipeline and sales for England Rugby Travel, England Sports Tours, and Lions Rugby Travel.
Supported by an existing client database, you will have the autonomy to grow this database, source new leads and clients while playing a crucial part in the department's growth and development. No two days are the same in this exciting sales focused role, but on a typical day you can expect to:
- Work collaboratively with the organisation’s product, marketing, travel and accommodation departments to help deliver market-leading and customer-focused experiential tour itineraries that are relevant and appealing to the customer.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Tours sales targets for England Rugby Travel, England Sports Tours and Lions Rugby Travel.
- Build and develop relationships with existing schools, clubs, colleges and universities to ensure that the brands are forefront of mind when choosing to Tour.
- Own and develop a portfolio of clients, ensuring growth in the database of contacts and leads.
- Ensure regular and timely monitoring of sales figures in line with leads and enquiries, ensuring quotes are delivered in a timely manner and converted into sales.
- Constantly strive to create and develop sales-focused and relevant products that match customer demand and are innovative and progressive, where relevant, within the applicable product sector.
- Have a constant and detailed understanding and assessment of the competition and the sports touring travel industry to ensure the organisation’s product is at the forefront of relevant market factors, including price, inclusions, structure and innovation.
- Continually work closely with the sales, marketing and tours teams to have a swift and informed knowledge of customer feedback as and when events happen.
- Travel to develop new relationships, meet new and existing clients which will include overseas travel.
To be successful within this role, our ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate good working knowledge & passion of sport, in particular rugby union with previous experience in a schools and clubs tours sales role would be desirable but not essential.
- Show a love for building effective relationships both within and outside of the business to help achieve sales aims and objectives.
- Be a confident presenter with proven sales experience.
- Be a great team player, happy to ‘help out’ in other areas that will only grow your experience and opportunities.
- Be an exceptional communicator with the ability to deal with a wide variety of decision makers over the telephone and in writing.
- Have experience of working across teams in the business so good interpersonal skills are a must, as is having the ability to work within a team environment to achieve team/department objectives.
- Be a flexible, organised person with the ability to coordinate competing demands whilst delivering to tight timelines.
- Be a highly organised individual with the ability to prioritise work efficiently and effectively.
- Possess a strong work ethic, high enthusiasm and a natural ability to identify new business opportunities.
- Be meticulous and conscientious with great attention to detail.
- Thrive in high pressure situations and be able to use own initiative to problem solve.
- Have a flexible approach to work and be happy to work weekends and evenings during busy times.
- Be computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint as well as having exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
- Possess a full clean driving license with access to a vehicle.
