We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs within a primary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team to provide tailored support that enables the pupil to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
  • Assist in implementing the pupil's EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) and individual learning targets.
  • Support the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development throughout the school day.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the pupil's individual needs.
  • Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support the school's behaviour management policies.
  • Help pupils develop communication, social, and emotional skills.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCo's, therapists, and external professionals.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to relevant staff.
  • Support transitions between lessons and activities where required.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly on a 1:1 basis.
  • Knowledge of SEN including ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Relevant SEN qualifications or training are desirable but not essential.
