Destination Education is currently working with a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Walthamstow and the surrounding areas, and we are expecting a variety of exciting HLTA positions to become available.

These opportunities are ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants and HLTAs who are ready to take on greater responsibility within the classroom.

You will have the opportunity to support pupils across different year groups, work alongside class teachers, and take responsibility for delivering learning when required.

We are expecting opportunities across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, with both longer-term and Cover/part time positions available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Lead classes and deliver lessons when required.
  • Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups of pupils.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment.
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the wider school team.
  • Help maintain high standards of behaviour and pupil engagement.
  • Assist with planning, preparation, assessment, and classroom organisation where required.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Has HLTA status or relevant experience working at a higher level within a primary school.
  • Has strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • Is confident leading lessons and managing a classroom independently.
  • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Is reliable, adaptable, and confident working across different year groups.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
