For many years, we’ve worked closely with an excellent specialist Autism college in Edgware, located just a short walk from Edgware station. We’re currently looking for a Health & Social Care Teaching Assistant to join the college on a full-time basis, supporting college-aged students with Autism within their Health & Social Care classes.
The Role
You’ll be supporting students both within lessons and across the wider college environment, helping them to engage with their learning, develop independence and build practical skills relevant to Health & Social Care.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Patient, caring and genuinely passionate about supporting young people
- Confident working with students with Autism and additional needs
- Able to build positive, trusting relationships with students
- Calm, consistent and resilient, particularly when supporting students who may become overwhelmed
- A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a wider college team
- Engaging and encouraging, with the ability to motivate students and make learning accessible
- Ideally experienced within a Secondary School, Sixth Form or College
- Alternatively, candidates from a care, support work or health/social care background will be considered, particularly where they have a good understanding of Autism
Location
The college is very easily accessible via the Northern Line, making it particularly convenient for candidates travelling from: Burnt Oak, Colindale, Hendon Central, Brent Cross, Golders Green, Hampstead, Belsize Park, Chalk Farm, Camden Town.
The college is led by a warm and welcoming Headteacher who is genuinely devoted to the students and their development. Trial days are being arranged this week and next week, so we’re looking to move quickly with suitable candidates and their compliance.
