Destination Education is seeking a patient, dedicated, and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with Autism (ASD) within a supportive and inclusive primary school in East Finchley. This is a full-time, long-term role, ideal for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child's early education journey.
You will be working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to provide consistent, structured support for a pupil who requires tailored intervention to access learning, regulate emotions, and develop communication and social skills. The role will involve creating a calm, predictable, and nurturing environment to support both academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism (ASD).
- Implement and follow the pupil's EHCP and individual support plan.
- Support communication, interaction, and emotional regulation.
- Adapt learning activities to suit the pupil's needs and learning style.
- Encourage positive behaviour and support transitions throughout the school day.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback on development and engagement.
- Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), ideally in a primary school setting.
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain consistent and resilient in challenging situations.
- Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
- SEN qualifications or relevant training are desirable but not essential.
