Designer Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to support the delivery of electrical building services works on our project at Heathrow Airport. This is a site-based supervisory role suited to someone with a strong electrical background and experience leading teams in a live construction, M&E, infrastructure, aviation, industrial or commercial environment.
You will be responsible for supervising electrical installation works on site, coordinating labour, monitoring subcontractor performance, supporting safe systems of work and ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standard. The successful candidate must hold SSSTS and a valid Supervisor Card. Previous experience working in an airport, airside, secure-site or live operational environment would be highly advantageous. Flexibility to work night shifts would also be an advantage.
What you will do:
- Supervise electrical installation works on the Heathrow project.
- Manage and coordinate site operatives, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Ensure daily works are planned, resourced and delivered in line with the project programme.
- Review drawings, specifications and work packs to support safe and accurate installation.
- Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, fire, controls, builders' works and other trade packages.
- Monitor progress on site and report any delays, risks or blockers to the project team.
- Support the Electrical Project Manager with short-term planning, labour allocation and daily site coordination.
- Ensure works are carried out in line with RAMS, permits, site rules and airport procedures.
- Complete site checks and support quality inspections, snagging and right-first-time delivery.
- Raise and escape technical, safety or coordination issues where required.
- Support testing, commissioning, handover and system completion activities.
- Ensure materials, plant and access requirements are in place for planned works.
- Promote high standards of housekeeping, safety, quality and productivity on site.
- Maintain strong working relationships with site teams, subcontractors, client representatives and other stakeholders.
- Uphold Designer Group's health, safety, quality and environmental standards at all times.
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience as an Electrical Supervisor, Electrical Site Supervisor, Electrical Foreman or Electrical Chargehand.
- Strong electrical installation background, ideally within building services, M&E contracting or infrastructure projects.
- Valid SSSTS certification.
- Valid Supervisor Card.
- Good knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, drawings, specifications and site coordination.
- Experience supervising electricians, subcontractors and site-based delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in a live construction environment.
- Ability to work to programme, manage daily work fronts and keep site activity moving.
- Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and client representatives.
- Practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
Experience that would be advantageous:
- Previous experience working at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City Airport or another live airport environment.
- Airside, landside, aviation, rail, transport, infrastructure or secure-site project experience.
- Experience working in live operational environments with strict access, safety, security, quality and programme controls.
- Flexibility or willingness to work night shifts where required.
- Experience working on terminal, baggage area, plantroom, commercial, infrastructure or critical building services projects.
- Experience supporting testing, commissioning, snagging and handover.
- Experience working with permits, access controls, shift work, live services and stakeholder-heavy site environments.
- Electrical trade qualification would be advantageous.
- IPAF, PASMA, First Aid or additional site safety training would be beneficial.
