Most Design Manager roles sit between design and delivery. This one sits across both. You’ll have real input into how projects are engineered, not just how designs are reviewed, with the backing of a business that is scaling and investing in its engineering capability.

We’re hiring an Electrical Design Manager to take ownership of electrical engineering delivery across multiple live projects. This is not a coordination role. You’ll be the senior electrical authority across design, preconstruction and delivery, influencing how projects are engineered, built and commissioned. You’ll work closely with project teams, supply chain and clients to ensure designs are practical, compliant, and aligned to programme and commercial objectives.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Lead electrical design strategy from tender through to commissioning
  • Support preconstruction and estimation with value engineering and buildability input
  • Manage and challenge external design consultants and supply chain partners
  • Ensure design delivery aligns with programme, cost and technical requirements
  • Review technical submissions, drawings and BIM models
  • Provide on-site engineering support across project lifecycle
  • Oversee testing, commissioning and quality assurance processes
  • Ensure compliance with BS7671, NICEIC and DG engineering standards
  • Work alongside SAP for LV/HV systems and ensure safe system integration
  • Support development of junior and graduate engineers
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of DG design and QA processes

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years’ experience in electrical engineering within an M&E contractor environment
  • Strong background across design and site delivery (critical)
  • Proven experience managing design consultants and subcontractors
  • Deep understanding of electrical systems, standards and compliance (BS7671, 18th Edition)
  • Experience across commercial, infrastructure or mission-critical projects
  • Strong technical judgement with a practical, buildable mindset
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across design, commercial and delivery teams

Qualifications:

  • Degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering / Building Services
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

Package:

  • Salary: Negotiable (aligned to experience)
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Private family healthcare
  • Pension (7% employer / 5% employee)
  • Long-term career development across UK & European projects
