The Opportunity
We’re seeking an Electrical Estimator to join our UK Estimation Department. This is an ideal opportunity for someone already working with an M&E contractor who wants to apply their skills across a diverse portfolio of building services and fit-out projects.
In this role, you’ll be central to winning work and preparing competitive tenders, collaborating closely with procurement, the supply chain, project teams, and senior leadership to deliver high-quality bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse tender opportunities, assess risk, and present clear recommendations to management.
- Review tender documentation and ensure a full understanding of client requirements.
- Accurately quantify electrical materials, plant, and labour requirements for each project.
- Prepare tender adjudication packs, risk assessments, and contractor proposals.
- Build up competitive labour rates, factoring in productivity, resources, and gang mix.
- Produce compliant cost plans and explore value-engineered solutions to improve bid competitiveness.
- Liaise with procurement to vet supplier and subcontractor submissions for compliance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with the mechanical estimator to produce complete M&E bids.
- Maintain and update a database of bids submitted, including outcome tracking.
- Provide regular reporting to management on estimating workload and pipeline.
About You
- Third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying, or similar discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ estimating experience with an M&E contractor (essential).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems within building services and fit-out environments.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder and supplier engagement skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
