Who we are looking for

Art Directors are responsible for the ideation and development of campaign and brand ideas with particular focus on the aesthetic. This is across all key mediums including TV, radio, print, digital and social.

You will have an artistic sensibility which you combine with design knowledge, skill set and a strong eye for composition and detail. You will hold a strong understanding of advertising production as well as commercial and budget considerations.

As an Art Director you will analyse and interrogate design and conceptual solutions, ensuring they are on brief and future proofed.

You add critical value by ensuring the visual holds meaning and engagement with the appropriate audience, working successfully alongside crafted copy.

You will work alongside other creatives, particularly writers, but also independently, particularly if projects are design or art directional heavy.

While they have the support and guidance of the Creative Director, they must be able to think independently and take initiative over design and other aesthetic decisions.

You are able to deal with working under pressure often with tight deadlines and you can give tangible direction, guidance and inspiration to the design team, as well as ensuring timings and budgets are considered and adhered to.

Art Directors are strong communicators with a passion for what they help create and

a desire to maintain the creative integrity.

The role and responsibilities

Understand the context of the client’s business and the communication needed. Also the strategic approach, particularly proposition and key insights. Help to ensure the ideas and solutions being developed ladder back to these objectives and principles

Understand the target audience and ensure work is engaging with them in

a meaningful and relevant way

Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget with a high standard and expectation

To work alongside other key members of the creative and production team, including (and not limited to) copywriters, client services, creative services, designers, film directors, producers, animators and photographers

Devise and develop original advertising ideas for campaign and brand that are relevant and answer the creative brief. This is across various mediums including TV, digital, social media and print

Devise, develop and maintain the visual style and tone across campaign work and brand identity. Ensure consistency across all deliverables

Craft ideas and execution based on several stages of feedback from the Creative Director, client, strategy and wider team. Maintain a tenacious and enthusiastic attitude towards our ideas as they move from ideation to conception, through to production

Produce and present compelling and relevant visual references that bring our concepts to life. They may be sketches, storyboards, mood boards or AI generated visuals presented to clients, designers or producers

Stay updated on key cultural and social trends, emerging technologies and techniques. Also relevant talent we might collaborate with like photographers, illustrators, film directors and musicians

Be aware of the latest production techniques and tool.

Work with production and/or wider team where necessary to select commissions like directors, animators, models, VO artists and casting

Direct and oversee the work of designers, photographers, videographers and other creatives to bring ideas to life and ensure the concept and aesthetic is inline with the brief and proposition. Defend against changes that would move it away from the key objectives and vision

Effectively present and sell in work to internal teams and clients
