Our client is currently looking for an HSE adviser for a position within the Reading area. The role will be outside of IR35 and offering negotiable day rates, requiring the right candidate to be based on site 5 days a week.

The scope of works for this project will include Programme Management, Construction, Building Services (M&E), Instrumentation and Control Systems, and various external works. Concurrent activities including commissioning and operating systems are ongoing with permanent live services being used across the project. Transitioning from an active construction site into a hybrid situation brings with it different SHE challenges. The Senior SHE Advisor role will be pivotal to ensure site behaviours and practices are in line with both clients' expectations. The ability to effectively communicate and influence people is an important quality needed for the role, in addition to having all the appropriate SHE experience and knowledge.

This is an on-site role in Reading, Burghfield. Candidates must have or be able to obtain Security Clearance. SC from the outset of the role is preferred.

Job Description / Purpose

To support the Contract SHE functions, provide, and support SHE solutions and enable the Contract / Operational Teams to implement the SHE Management System. To build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, whilst providing an independent and objective view of SHE Performance on the Contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and influence Contract Leadership Team, Clients, and other Stakeholders in compliance with the SHE Management System and Contract SHE Performance.
  • Support and where required deliver training, to allow the contract team to successfully implement the SHE Management System.
  • Coach and support the Contract Operational and Supply Chain Contractors in the delivery of the Contract SHE requirements.
  • Where required, be actively involved in the ongoing assessment of the Contracts Supply Chain Contractors.
  • Actively support the delivery of the annual Contract and Group SHE Objectives.
  • Actively engage with the Contract SHE Assurance programme to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
  • Actively support and lead investigation of all unplanned events and close out of assurance findings, ensuring lessons are shared in accordance with the SHE Management System.
  • Support the timely reporting, analysis, and use of SHE data to support and influence the Contract Leadership Team and where required support the development and implementation of data-based improvement plans.

Experience

Essential

  • 3 years SHE related experience.

Desirable

  • Over 5 years relevant SHE experience in the relevant industry.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Occupational Safety Diploma or Environmental Diploma or equivalent.

Professional Membership

Essential

  • Tech. IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Cert IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent.
