MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER Permanent Position Coventry Salary – up to £45,000 Mechanical Design Engineer required to join our client who specialise in the design, manufacture and management of process plant and special purpose machine design within a variety of engineering disciplines. MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – SUMMARY OF POSITION The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of our clients portfolio of products and projects in accordance with company and international standards, relevant regulatory requirements and any current national and international legislation. Participate in all aspects of our clients engineering project and product activities and ensure consistently high standards of on-time and on-budget delivery of engineered designs. MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES * Produce system drawings, general arrangement drawings, sub-assembly drawings and detail part drawings in 2D CAD or 3D Inventor as required using clients design principles and standards. * Consider design for manufacture principles on all new and existing product lines. * Produce Pipe and Instrumentation Diagrams and Bill of Materials to support project execution. * Maintain technical construction files at all times and liaise with Project Managers to ensure issues are closed out in a timely manner. * Identify parts for use on equipment, ensuring that where possible, parts are selected from the company’s published lists of approved products. * Communicate full BoM for products into Purchasing Department to support project requirements. * Maintain drawings to the correct issue, ensuring that amendments are carried out and managed in accordance with the Quality Management System. * To maintain technical file structures and systems to company and ISO Standards. * Implement industry best practice configuration management to company product range. * Produce information in a sequence and in a time frame that match the needs of Production. * Develop skills and competency framework and individual training plans for Draughting team. * Provide design support to Manufacturing, Sales and R&D. * Any other reasonable duties as requested by a Manager of the Company. MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER SKILLS / COMPETENCIES * Exposure to the manufacturing industry (chemical and processing is advantageous). * Experience with 3D modelling and 2D detailed drafting, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred. * Sheet metal and machined component design is desirable but not mandatory. * Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). * Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes. * Ability to produce documentation of a level suitable for manufacturing, assembly and installation. * Logical, pragmatic and able to think “outside the box”. * Maintain confidentiality at ALL times. * Ability to develop, build and maintain strong relationships. * Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. * High level of English language proficiency, both written and verbal. * Proficient in using Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc QUALIFICATIONS * Degree qualified or equivalent academic qualification in Mechanical Engineering. * Minimum of 3 years design experience in Special Purpose Machine Design or Manufacturing related field * Clean Driving License Applications: This vacancy is available to Candidates with relevant experience as detailed in the job description.
