Due to winning landmark projects in London Docklands, there is an opportunity for an experienced Senior CSA Design Engineer for a major data centre in London Docklands. REPORTING TO: Senior CSA Project Manager
Purpose of Role
To manage the end-to-end design and delivery of Civil, Structural, and Architectural packages for high-profile projects.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and oversee the design development of all CSA packages, ensuring technical compliance with project specifications and statutory requirements.
- Ensure that all design solutions are thoroughly evaluated for buildability and provide the best possible outcome for each unique project scenario, balancing innovation, cost-effectiveness, and practicality.
- Manage the lifecycle of design packages, from initial review through estimation, procurement, planning, and execution on site.
- Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project objectives are met and relationships are maintained.
- Support the Design Manager and collaborate with MEP and CSA teams to deliver integrated solutions and resolve cross-discipline design challenges.
- Monitor design progress, identify risks or issues early, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines and deliverables.
- Contribute technical input during all project phases, providing guidance on best practices, value engineering, constructability reviews, and assessing alternative approaches to secure the most buildable and effective solutions.
- Oversee and ensure the production of high-quality technical documentation, drawings, and reports.
- Participate in and lead project meetings, design reviews, and site inspections required, with a focus on verifying that designs are both practical and optimised for construction.
The Candidate
- Minimum 5+ years’ CSA design and delivery for large-scale, complex building projects, preferably within data centre or mission-critical sectors.
- Prior exposure to data centres or complex building projects is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE, IStructE, RIAI) is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of UK building codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
- Proficiency in design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple design packages through all phases with a focus on buildability and optimal solutions.
- Proven project management capabilities, including planning, risk management, and reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes.
