Design Build Search are working with a leading retail fit-out company who have an opening for a Fit-out Estimator in their Newry office. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for pricing a range of full lifecycle build projects including retail, commercial, residential and public works disciplines. Project values range from €100k-€1m.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Producing commercially sound and technically workable estimates to assist the company in winning projects.
- Conduct continuous reviews of various tender websites and all other sources for tenders (such as E-tenders, CIS) to identify opportunities for tendering.
- Complete PQQ’s where applicable.
- Take full responsibility for the prioritization and completion of all relevant tenders, including the completion of accurate tender information.
- Analyse drawings, specifications and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and work on multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Prepare estimates by compiling take-off bids based on scope of work to produce fully detailed bills of quantities.
- Coordinate with the client on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work during the bidding process.
- Carry out site visits and surveys to understand the scope of works involved; identify scope for value engineering through product selection.
- Complete analysis of tenders and prices received from the supply chain.
- Obtain feedback on both successful and unsuccessful tenders.
- Liaise with quantity surveying team, procurement, subcontractors and other stakeholders as necessary.
- Keep up to date with current building techniques and relevant codes of practice, building regulations and legislation.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving innovation and excellence in estimating and commercial practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience as an estimator in a main contracting environment with proven experience on retail and commercial project bids.
- In-depth knowledge of building regulations and standards.
- Good experience in understanding design documents, drawings, and 3-D models.
- Ability to effectively manage estimating process and associated schedules to required deadlines.
- Strong I.T skills are essential.
- Full driving license.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with various departments.
Education & Experience:
- Relevant technical background or third level qualification in engineering/architecture/construction/quantity surveying related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years’ proven experience in estimating.
