Role Overview
Design Build Search is working with a global engineering consultancy that continues to expand throughout the UK. They have an opportunity for a chartered Civil Engineer in Manchester to support clients expanding their aviation and civil portfolio across the UK and Ireland.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status (e.g. CEng, MIEI or equivalent)
- Minimum of six years' experience working in design and engineering consultancy
- Strong technical knowledge of UK and/or Irish standards and regulations relevant to transport infrastructure
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with experience building and maintaining effective working relationships across all levels of the company
- Willingness to attend client meetings and industry events across Ireland and the UK
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the immediate delivery of a high-profile Design & Build project.
- Contribute to the development and execution of aviation and broader infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and occasionally on international assignments.
- While the primary focus will be on airport and aviation infrastructure, the role may also involve input into other transport‑related projects, including road, rail, and port development.
- Collaborate with and be supported by specialist teams—including structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, aeronautical, and electrical engineers—to provide a range of technical tasks, including
- Providing technical input to both outline and detailed design phases.
- Leading the development of technical specifications, ensuring alignment with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Preparing and contributing to the development of technical details, engineering reports, and Bills of Quantities (BoQ).
- Performing basic structural assessments to inform and support design decisions.
- Coordinating the design and integration of civil infrastructure associated with utilities, including drainage systems, water supply networks, ducting systems, etc.
