Design Build Search is seeking a Senior Technical Services Manager based in London. Our client is an established and growing main contractor delivering complex projects across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe. Their expertise spans technically demanding sectors such as data centres, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and logistics infrastructure.

They are seeking a Senior Technical Services Manager to play a key role within their project delivery teams. This position is suited to someone who enjoys working on large-scale, technically challenging developments and wants to contribute to high-profile projects for leading international clients.

Reporting to the MEP Lead, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of all MEP services on data centre projects, ensuring systems are designed, coordinated, installed, and commissioned in line with project requirements:

  • Contribute during the tender stage by helping identify and assess suitable M&E subcontractors and supporting selection decisions.
  • Take ownership of design coordination, ensuring all building services designs are practical, compliant, and aligned with programme timelines.
  • Lead the technical development of designs through key stages, working closely with consultants and specialist subcontractors.
  • Keep a close eye on both technical and commercial risks within the design, taking proactive steps to address any issues.
  • Review project specifications, employer requirements, and proposed technical solutions.
  • Drive early-stage BIM coordination, resolving clashes and highlighting potential risks before they impact delivery.
  • Support procurement activities, particularly in relation to MEP packages and subcontractor appointments.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture across all teams and project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental procedures across projects.
  • Build and lead M&E teams, assigning the right people to the right projects and clearly defining expectations.
  • Assess subcontractor packages for any commercial or technical risks.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to manage variations and cost implications.
  • Oversee quality processes related to MEP works across projects.
  • Monitor installation progress and step in to resolve issues when necessary.
  • Oversee commissioning and handover activities to ensure systems are delivered to the required standard.

A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar is required, along with at least 3 years working on data centre projects. Experience delivering projects through all stages, from design to completion, and a solid understanding of building services design and client expectations are essential. The ideal candidate will be driven, focused, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes.
