Design Build Search is working on behalf of a leading main contractor with a strong track record across Data Centres, Life Sciences, and Critical Logistics. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Technical Services Manager to join their high-performing London project team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of MEP systems across projects, ensuring full compliance with specifications from design through testing, commissioning, and final handover.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with company Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management Systems
- Oversee BCAR compliance and adherence to relevant M&E industry standards
- Undertake regular site inspections to ensure standards are met
- Identify and shortlist M&E subcontractors during tender stage
- Assess subcontractor performance across quality, safety, programme, and commercial metrics
- Review tender documentation to ensure M&E packages are cost-effective and robust
- Perform due diligence on subcontractor packages and flag commercial risks
- Manage escalated variations in collaboration with the QS team
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex MEP issues
- Monitor progress of M&E installations and manage programme risks
- Oversee commissioning, demonstration, and handover processes
- Ensure full implementation of company QMS across all MEP activities
- Build, resource, and lead high-performing M&E teams across multiple projects
- Select appropriate technical services resources and clearly define roles and responsibilities
- Promote a positive, inclusive team culture with a strong focus on collaboration and accountability
- Champion a strong safety culture and lead by example
- Communicate professionally through meetings, reports, and presentations
- Leverage relationships with consultants, utility providers, and internal teams
- Support business development by identifying new opportunities and nurturing client relationships
- Third-level qualification in Building Services Engineering or related discipline (or qualified Mechanical/Electrical trade background)
- Minimum 10 years’ construction experience, including 5+ years as a Services Coordinator or similar role
- Proven track record of delivering complex projects through to completion
- Strong understanding of design development and client requirements
- Autonomous, results-driven, and accountable
- Excellent communicator with the ability to foster positive project team environments
