An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Mechanical Design Engineer to join a soon-to-be-launched Birmingham office, working closely with the Dublin team. This is a great opportunity to support the growth of the new UK hub while delivering major hyperscale data centre projects across the EMEA region.
The role will initially be fully remote. Once the Birmingham office is operational, flexible attendance will be required as part of a hybrid working model.
As a Senior Project Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead the design of mechanical building services within the data centre sector, managing projects across EMEA from concept through to client handover. You will take ownership of multiple projects, ensuring programme, budget and quality objectives are achieved.
In addition, you will mentor and support engineering staff, ensuring all deliverables align with our quality assurance standards and that project teams remain on track to meet deadlines.
Minimum of 10+ years of mechanical design experience. Role would be as a senior member of the design team, working under the team leadership to deliver leading data centre developments for some of the largest tech firms in Europe.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ability to lead projects and take briefs from the project lead on large projects, delivering and controlling the required tasks.
- Excellent report writing skills and the ability to explain complex engineering issues in simple and clear language.
- Good understanding of HVAC and building controls.
- Experience in the design of plumbing and drainage systems is preferred.
- Training and professional development of junior and intermediate engineers working as part of the group.
- Comprehend contract terms and conditions to control scope creep and maintain project integrity.
- Manage quality control within projects to ensure deliverables meet established standards.
- Engage in resource management to optimise resource allocation and project execution.
