Desian Education are proud to be supporting an extremely welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Widnes that is at the heart of its local community as they are looking to appoint a number of experienced and reliable teaching assistants for full-time temporary contracts starting in September. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join an extremely well-regarded school in the local community and play an integral role in the education and development of pupils with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining a large team of like-minded professionals, working in collaboration with class teachers and other teaching assistants to support the learning and development of select pupils on a 1:1 basis. You will offer tailored support, adapting your approach to best suit individual needs and requirements. You will:

  • Support pupils with SEN including ASD/ASC, behavioural needs & communication requirements
  • Use Makaton, PECS and other objective references to support communication
  • Implement an array of positive behaviour strategies including traffic light systems, talk time, & positive reinforcement

Full "Right to Work" in the UK

An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential

Experience working with SEN

Relevant referenceable classroom experience

A true passion for supporting young learners

Be able to commit to a full-time contract consisting of 32.5 hours per week

An Enhanced Children's DBS certificate or willingness to obtain
