Desian Education are proud to be working in collaboration with a single‑form entry school in Warrington that is easily accessible via public transport as they require a compassionate and understanding teaching assistant to support a pupil in year 1 on a 1:1 basis on a full‑time temporary basis from September. This is an extremely rewarding position where you will play a key role in the emotional development of a pupil that has been subject to significant trauma.
Your new role: As a teaching assistant within this school you will be supporting a year 1 pupil on a 1:1 basis that unfortunately due to significant trauma, presents complex behavioural challenges. You will have the full support of the class teacher, SENCO and SLT to implement an array of holistic and trauma‑informed behavioural strategies to promote their behaviours and emotional development. Through repetition, positive reinforcement and constructive relationship building, your aim will be to improve this pupil’s attendance, emotional well‑being, trust, and ultimately their general well‑being.
Strategies:
- Working in collaboration with ELSA and delivery of specific interventions
- Integrating into new pupil groups
- Implementing positive behaviour strategies including utilising movement breaks and break‑out rooms
- Pupil‑led and trauma‑informed curriculum delivery
- Supporting during break and lunch times to prevent abscond
Requirements:
- Full Right to Work in the UK
- NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
- Experience supporting SEMH, trauma or complex behavioural needs
- Awareness of ELSA interventions (experience using ELSA is advantageous)
- Enhanced Children’s DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain
