The school are looking to appoint an experienced and Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant to join their Reception class on a full-time, long-term temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an experienced and supportive EYFS team within a school that is held in high regard across the local authority. Subject to funding, the position is expected to continue into the new academic year, providing excellent continuity for the successful candidate. Your New Role: Working closely with the Reception class teacher, you will play an important role in supporting pupils' learning, engagement and development, helping to ensure every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential. You will build strong, positive relationships with pupils and use a range of engaging resources and child-centred approaches to support their individual learning needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Reception class with day-to-day teaching and learning.
- Leading phonics sessions using the Read Write Inc. (RWI) scheme.
- Delivering targeted small-group and 1:1 phonics interventions.
- Supporting pupils to develop their communication and early literacy skills.
- Monitoring progress and helping pupils achieve key developmental milestones.
- Supporting pupils in preparation for a successful transition into KS1.
- Providing tailored support to pupils with SEN.
- Building pupils' confidence, independence and engagement with learning.
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher and wider EYFS team.
- Creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.
The Reception class includes a number of pupils with additional needs who require consistent and tailored support throughout the school day. This makes the role particularly well suited to someone with a strong interest in SEN who can adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
