Desian Education are proud to be supporting a well‑established SEND school in Ellesmere Port that supports pupils between the ages of 4‑11 with a variety of needs including ASD, non‑verbal and selective mutism. They require a number of experienced and motivated teaching assistants to join their team on a full‑time temporary basis. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join a supportive team of SEN professionals and play an integral role in the development of pupils. This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to transition from a residential childcare setting.

Your new role as a teaching assistant within this school involves joining an extremely supportive and welcoming team. You will work alongside class teachers and teaching assistants to deliver pupil‑centred care, ensuring that the individual needs of each pupil are at the heart of all operations. You will offer 1:1 support across the school to ensure that each pupil's EHCP requirements are met, adapting your approach to best suit individual pupil needs, requirements and responses.

Other duties will include:

  • Makaton, PECs and SALT to support communication
  • Sensory stimuli via sensory rooms and sensory play
  • Implementing an array of positive behaviour strategies

What you need to succeed:

  • Full 'Right to Work' in the UK
  • Relevant referenceable experience supporting children and young people with complex needs in a classroom or residential environment. ASD and/or non‑verbal experience is preferred
  • Ability to commit to a full‑time contract consisting of 32.5 hours per week
  • An Enhanced Children’s DBS certificate or willingness to obtain
