Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with an extremely inclusive and supportive single-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port as they are looking for an experienced and motivated teaching assistant to join their EYFS team on a long-term temporary basis. This is an extremely supportive school that has high levels of need across the nursery and reception class. This exciting opportunity will be starting on 01/09/2026, subject to funding it will last the whole of the academic year.

Your new role:

  • As a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining an experienced and supportive EYFS cohort, working in collaboration with nursery and reception class teachers to promote the engagement, development and learning of all pupils across the EYFS cohort.
  • You will lead on reading comprehension across the classes and fine motor skills, liaising with class teachers on pupil progress and recognising key milestones.
  • As the cohort has a high level of needs, you will promote inclusivity and adapting learning to suit attainment and physical needs, ensuring that each pupil reaches their full academic potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • 1:1 SEN support
  • Speech and language support including PECS and objective referencing
  • Supporting with personal and intimate care

Requirements:

  • Full 'Right to Work' in the UK
  • Having NVQ Level 2 Children's Care, Learning and Development or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Referenceable experience supporting children between the ages of 0 - 5
  • Experience working with SEN is advantageous (ASD is preferred)
  • Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Children's DBS check
